Traumatic events, experiences of loss, relational difficulties, common life stressors, identity confusion, and mental illness, when left unaddressed, can make life seem unbearable and leave you feeling utterly overwhelmed and hopeless. However, I can assure you that you yourself are the farthest thing from helpless regardless of the circumstances of your situation.
Within the confines of a safe physical and emotional environment, a strong therapeutic alliance—characterized by trust, honesty, and empathy—should form between us and serve as an important tool in addressing any problems you may be facing with yourself and others. Furthermore, you will be able to learn and practice other therapeutic skills/tools/techniques that may be helpful in coping with your most distressing problems of the present while also having the chance to examine and reflect on your past in order to gain insight on patterns of emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and relationships that may lie at the root of these problems.
My approach to therapy is eclectic in nature, meaning I will use a combination of elements from different therapeutic perspectives/orientations that best suits your unique situation and preferences. I have specific experience in treating and supporting LGBTQ+ adults with a wide range of psychological and interpersonal problems, and I am currently offering therapeutic services to adolescents and adults (ages 12 and up) who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationships difficulties, gender/sexual identity, LGBTQ+ related issues, trauma, and grief and loss among other problems.
If at any time while reading this something resonated with you, I urge you to take the often frightening and intimidating first step of reaching out and contacting me or another mental health professional because, in the words of Maya Angelo, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.” It would be my honor to hear your story and to help you alleviate some of your agony.
